Taiwan, or, why authoritarian leftists are scum

Recently I've had an interaction with an authoritarian leftist regarding the political status of Taiwan, and it is actually something I've been kinda aware of for a while. Many moons ago, I had theorized, wrongly (and I was a teenager then when I thought of this), that by 2027, the PRC regime would fall, much in the same way that the Soviet Union had fallen. It should come as no surprise then, that the PRC has not fallen. Well, not anywhere near the way that so many hard-line jingoistic assholes on the right would've imagined, outspending an enemy and letting them make blunders on their own, no. We can't outspend the PRC, and I say the PRC because there will be a lot of back-and-forth regarding the legitimacy of the ROC (Taiwan, or, as the Olympic Committee calls the nation, "Chinese Taipei") and the legitimacy of the PRC (colloquially, 'China').
Taiwan has cropped up in the news recently thanks to the present mob regime in control of American politics, because the high moron was feted by the leader of the PRC in subtle and surreal ways that have inflated that orange ape's ego. No deal was arrived at during this high-level meeting, and upon the marmalade mongoloid's return to the Occupied States, he said rather bluntly that he doesn't give a damn about Taiwan's status. Never mind the fact that he didn't even comprehend the Thucydides trap remark from the red emperor, he was too enthralled with the references to Putin and how enamored he was with everything being shown, that he couldn't muster anything from that empty head of his to say that was worthwhile.
Taiwan is a linchpin nation when it comes to technological goods that America needs, especially the higher-quality chips and things we use to make computers do that wonderful whirring noise we are all so accustomed. Taiwan is not a pushover country. It is small, sure, but it is not weak. America has had specific relations with the country, even after Nixon essentially sold them up the river in recognizing the PRC as the successor state to the Republic of China. And, because the PRC requires that bilateral relations between them and any given country necessitates acknowledgement of their legitimacy (the "One China" policy), since 1971, most countries have abided this. Some have recognized that, or given light acceptance diplomatically, but functionally, most countries retain informal relations with Taiwan.
In furtherance of this party line the PRC also has made multiple statements about Taiwan being part of its jurisdiction. The PRC has hitherto refused to renounce the use of force in bringing Taiwan back into the fold; Taiwan renounced that aim in the early 90s, after the long military dictatorship that arose from fleeing the end of the civil war on the mainland in 1949. Yes; Taiwan was a military dictatorship, and it definitely didn't do itself any favors for a while. Taiwan also has done something that the PRC will probably not do for a long time either, and that's democratize after a dictatorship. The PRC pretends to be a 'people's democracy' with 'socialist rule of law' and does things in the vein of 'socialism with Chinese characteristics', but if you look at that history, you will find there are hard limits to that "democracy" they claim to have. It's much the same with North Korea (their official name is a clumsy redundant mess I will not repeat); a lot of pretense and bluster, but nearly zero substantive measure.
Authoritarian leftists, especially those who espouse some form of 'Marxism-Leninism', are keen to say that 'bourgeois democracy is the rot that infuses the bones of capitalist societies and should be done away with', and replaced with "people's democracy", spouting sophistries and stratagems and sloganeering. It is utter tripe; it is nonsense. The aberration of "socialism with Chinese characteristics" is as bad as "MAGA communism", because it is style over substance, fundamentally, and it rings hollow to anyone who is an actual socialist with any sort of understanding about state and human affairs. The Communist Party of China is nothing more than a billionaire's puppet dressed in red lingerie, prostituting itself ideologically on the world stage.
A people's democracy does not arise from a vanguard party, it's just a vanguard's democracy, and the development of this so-called socialism is a testament to that overture. The abuse of terminology apparently seems to go over most of these auth-left dilettantes who have bent over backwards to defend the PRC's actions, to curry favor with the nomenklatura of that country, and to absolutely do nothing else except glaze the Party's role as the leading fellator of the so-called masses. The PRC crushed peaceful dissent in 1989, it practices imperialism with the Nine-Dash Line, its annexation of Tibet, its role in committing genocide with the Uyghur populace on the pretext of "curtailing terrorism", and it rattles its saber with regards to Taiwan. But Taiwan has more human rights than the PRC, even if it is just as capitalist. Taiwan was the first Asian country in the region to allow the LGBTQ to marry, in 2017. The PRC regards LGBTQ people about as well as vermin, scarcely human, and barely notes the premise of their rights.
During that exchange earlier, he pivoted to a very terrible argument: "Well, Israel is a sovereign nation - Is attacking Israel now considered imperialism when they're the ones who illegally occupied Palestinian land?" and to that I have to say, it's bunk. It's nonsense. Israel was established on the political ideology of Zionism, to establish a Jewish state, to the exclusion of all other peoples and faiths. What it is doing to Palestinians and the Lebanese is a fucking travesty that many countries ought be judged harshly for tacitly allowing. Was Taiwan founded the same way? Is it bombing the PRC? Is it illegally occupying the island? No, it's doing none of these things. The argument, that what the PRC is doing right now, by not renouncing use of force in reintegrating Taiwan and pushing military drills in the waters around Taiwan as 'not 'imperialism'', is hogwash.
The long-standing situation between North and South Korea is not the same, either. Tankies will whine and cry about South Korean military pacts with the United States as a form of imperialism or colonialism, and call South Korea a puppet state, but it is the cold, hard truth, that the North Koreans invaded first, with tacit approval from the Soviet Union, and when it took the UN to push their forces all the way back to the Yalu, the Chinese interceded on their behalf as a volunteered army. The Marxist-Leninist agitators know nothing but simple, puerile anti-Americanism, which seems to be all the rage at present. It is always "America is the cause of all the world's problems", but when it comes to solutions and compromises, it is always on the side with dictators, strongmen, authority. Understandably, it is out of the fear of capitalists reasserting their sociopolitical power that they cling so firmly to state power and state process, but in the same way, they cling to a fascizing logic that demands transference of the power and loyalty of capitalists, to the power and loyalty of the party that claims its social contract from the masses, or the people, or the intelligentsia, or whichever centered group that party chooses to uphold as its center.
In attempting to leverage the ideological theatre of the PRC for quick gotchas online, Marxist-Leninists and 'communists' have achieved nothing except the alienation of the masses who might otherwise find common ground within socialism, by repetitively and inanely blathering on about how moral and upstanding the PRC is, and that the PRC is correct on everything regarding socialist thought, including support of dictators whose lineages included service in former socialist states. It is intolerable in this day and age for these people to uphold dictators as examples of working socialism. To countenance the support of genocide and imperialism, while claiming to uphold the right of people to self-determination, and still denying Taiwan that right, is tantamount to ideological flunkeyism.
