the view on recent events, in re the "new Iran war"
We have reached "critical idiocy". There's really no other way to define what sort of a shitshow the regime has imposed upon us. We are being... catapulted into a religious war of dire and apocalyptic proportions. The regime is absolutely, definitely, and in no other terms, seeking to bring about the end of the world and the re-imposition of Christian rule 'by Jesus'. That is what the military has said, more or less, in no less than some fifty cases over the last few months. Pete Hegseth, noted fundamentalist wingnut and hopeless alcoholic, has brought Dominionist teaching into the US military. Multiple complaints were filed over this Christian crusading nonsense that has permeated the military since the beginning of last year's regime.
The real issue is much more apparent. On February 28, Israel and the US decided, without the approval of Congress, and absolutely on law-breaking whims, to strike Iran again. Previously, the regime purported to have taken out Iran's "nuclear capabilities", though evidence appeared to the contrary. Unfortunately, this purported war has all but practically failed in achieving its aims, if it had any. Because of the ongoing furore over the Epstein files, each new revelation is forcing the 'president' of the US to constantly attempt to deflect, distract, and blatantly goad the American public into supporting an undeclared war against Iran. The popular and all-but-justified view is that Israel has compromising materials on the 'president', and with each attempt to stonewall what is a legitimate inquiry, the calls come from Netanyahu, and the orange dimwit immediately falls into line, to carry out Israel's aims.
He's failed, however, to actually do anything that would benefit the country - after all, he is a president-for-hire and the highest bidders all take turns in using him to fulfil their aims domestically and internationally. Israel is no different. And the damning part is painfully evident, as now the US has bled through its stockpiles trying to hammer Iran in mere days. He gets up onto the podium and attempts to give deadlines about how long this aptly-named 'special military operation' will last. Four weeks. Eight weeks. Forever, if need be. And that's not even the biggest issue. No. The regime has neglected, as often as it does, to negotiate.
Trump tore up the agreement Obama made with Iran regarding nuclear weapons and enrichment, because Trump is overwhelmingly jealous of Obama, and of anyone who has held power or prestige larger than his own. Khamenei issued fatwas saying that it was impermissible to have nuclear weapons built. Trump had one of the ayatollah's top generals murdered with relative impunity. But now, in the desperate, needless flailing he has always committed to, he has made the largest, longest, and ghastliest blunder imaginable. With the strikes and bombings, he made a martyr of Khamenei. He made a martyr of him, and most of his family, within the holiest month of the Islamic calendar, Ramadan. To Pete Hegseth, he ostensibly has no care for Muslims or Islam, considering he has a Jerusalem cross tattooed on his chest, and recently had kafir ('unbeliever') tattooed on his right arm.
Until the end of last month, no supreme leader had ever been declared a martyr; Khomeini died of old age in 1989. But now, the United States government, and, us by its extension, must grapple with the fact that this war is the outcropping of one man's insane resistance to being held accountable. Dominionists are inestimably stupid, pig-ignorant, leaning on Crusader memes and macho posturing. You cannot win a war against fanatics with memes and being muscular. The language of mediation or conciliation is lost on them. Being smart is something Christ wouldn't do, apparently, and so, in true fashion, after the regime committed wanton acts of perfidy (namely, calling for negotiations and then immediately striking the opposite party), suing for peace with terms beneficial to us will not happen so long as the TCR is in power.
The so-called Peace President has now done the stupidest thing imaginable, and stirred up a definite inundating tsunami of hostility. The Senate continually fails to pass resolutions keeping Trump from tanking the world, and Congress fails to do anything of note, in no small part due the Speaker and some of the Democrats who want to play cowboy (Fetterman, for example). If the TCR opted for regime change, they failed spectacularly. Every push to win this 'war' is blunder after blunder. The regime is trying to press munitions manufacturers to step up their production in exceedingly unrealistic ways. As we are not a "war economy", but have a military-industrial complex, you can see the mismatch in needs and wants in real time. Gasoline prices spiked to highs not seen in the last five years, thanks to the closing of the Strait of Hormuz. And just earlier, the regime is asking for another half-trillion dollars to "fight this war". I'd laugh, if it weren't so seriously stupid.
Irreconcilable differences exist between the US and Iran, and for good reason. 73 years ago, Britain and the US, in response to the prime minister of Iran nationalizing their oil, came together, in the fear of the Cold War 'domino effect' — and proceeded to stamp out democracy in Iran, by kicking Mossadegh to the curb and installing the Shah, who was not terribly popular. While, outwardly, Iran was looking like most other Western nations, they had something we forgot about — and are being reminded of now at home: secret police. Before all this misery was inflicted last week, Trump was, I guess, half-heartedly calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the ayatollah. Unfortunate facts, like Tehran becoming a major city unable to draw water, their economy collapsing because of mismanagement, their rial losing value in the span of hours, and discontent about domestic policies regarding Islamic dress codes, did not seem to aid the people in their quest for individual freedom, and as Trump posited helping these poor souls to realize 'American' democracy, those strikes dastardly and irrevocably neutralized any hope of doing so under the auspices of the West. Tens of thousands of protesters and other souls have been lost to government forces, with barely a thought as to their disposition.
Betrayal, cowardice, hypocrisy, wanton destruction, and complete disregard for human life, these are the hallmarks of the American government. It is not to say that Iran is a pure nation whose innocence is somehow highlighted by our base nature at present, and while I have had many a thought about these things, I have set them aside in order to perhaps clear up any notion that I would support one nation over the other. I am not patriotic; I think patriotism is one of the last acts a scoundrel appeals to, for want of justification of atrocities hitherto unimaginable and overwhelming.
Iran is a patent theocracy. The Qur'an is their law, for the most part. Dress codes exist for all public places, with special officers enforcing those laws. The law in Iran considers Bahais apostates and is practically a death sentence. Token seats exist in their government for 'people of the Book', but not towing the line of the Imam, the 'guardianship of the jurist', is tantamount to political death. The ayatollah is legally inviolable; saying anything against him is a criminal offense. And, while it is one of the countries that has high rates of trans surgeries, actual trans people within Iran are not accepted, and suffer marginalization as a result. Children can be hanged, by the neck, if they break the law, and within that legal system, pardons are almost unheard-of. The harder facts are this, though: Iran is a large, mountainous country, and if the regime is not willing to back off from putting "boots on the ground", they are only sending people to die for no other reason than the commander-in-chief is a serial rapist and a pedophile of monstrous proportions.
Our government has been captured by actual, heartless, craven, lowly bastards, who wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. The names are various, and I can think of a few, but for sure, they aren't the best of the best, they are the worst of the worst. Words fail to encompass the exact amount of hatred I have for these cretins, and if there was a word for exactly the kind of sleazy, disgusting, pathetic attitudes and actions they take in our name, it would be nearly unprintable. The reality that our government will do the bidding of a nation who takes our tax money, before even thinking to help our own folks, turns my god damn stomach. The cycle of exploiting people, including children, and the willingness of many of our institutions to turn a blind eye to these and other facts, is a tacit admission that this country, and many others, have lost the slivers of justification for their existence. The existence of these states is a damnable stain that will not come clean for generations.
Tangentially, the regime is now attempting to cover up facts regarding the president and his cadre's involvements with Epstein. He is also still very much out to 'nationalize' elections and has a few helping hands. Primaries started in Texas not too long ago and the confusion about polling places has been tragic, to say the least. Challenges on ballots have been issued, which means people are being disenfranchised until contested, which will take weeks. You can thank Ken Paxton for that, among many other detestable things. We know he will attempt the same shit that he tried to pull in 2020, and that is to fix the election in his favor — even though constitutionally he cannot run again, his claque are hemming and hawing about the Constitution's words. Eight more months or so until midterms, too.
When the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists moved the Doomsday Clock five seconds further to midnight, it being 85 seconds now, we initially were of the mind that "Eh, this doesn't mean anything." However, in light of the most recent happenings, their assessment that we would be moving towards renuclearization is bleakly, and unfortunately, coming back. France has come out to state that they are enlarging their nuclear stockpile and will no longer be releasing definite numbers, all because the original order is being thrown away. Other countries who see the US as breaking the unspoken rule, rightfully, are pulling away from us, a natural consequence of the president's policies and actions. And on that point, this article ends for now. If something happens... you'll know.
